Is there a pregnancy app made for Singapore

Most pregnancy apps are written for the US or the UK. They will not know what confinement costs here, what your polyclinic referral is for, or which foods are the ones people actually ask about in Singapore. A few have an Asian focus. One Journey is written for Singapore specifically, from the day you know you are pregnant until the baby is born, and it is a one-time S$29 payment rather than a subscription.

This page is written by the people who make One Journey, so read it that way. What follows is what we would tell a friend to check before installing anything, including ours.

What to look for in one

• Does it know your due date, and does everything tune to it? An app that shows the same content to everyone is a magazine.
• Does it work for both of you? Most are built for one person. If your partner cannot open the same calendar, one of you is retyping everything.
• What happens to your data? Look for what is collected, who can read it, and whether it is sold. If that is hard to find, that is the answer.
• Is it a subscription? Nothing wrong with subscriptions, but know before you start whether you are signing up for something that renews, and know how to stop it.
• Does it tell you when to call someone? The useful moment is not the beautiful week illustration. It is the night something worries you, and a good app hands that to your doctor fast instead of answering it itself.
• Is anything local in it at all? Search the app for the words you actually use here. If they are not in it, it was not written for here.

What One Journey does

• Written guides covering pregnancy through to the birth, written for Singapore.
• A week by week tracker tuned to your due date, with what people commonly notice in the week you are actually in.
• Tools for the moments in between: a contraction timer, a kick counter, paced breathing, an "is this an emergency?" checker, a shared "questions for this appointment" sheet, a "dad: what do I do right now?" tool, and, waiting for the day the baby arrives, a feed and nappy tracker and a "baby won't stop crying" walkthrough. Each one ends in an answer or a next step.

• A supplies countdown for what a household stocks up on before the birth.
• Journey Bot, an assistant that reads your own logs and our own guides, nobody else's data, says where an answer came from, and hands anything urgent to your doctor or to the emergency checker.
• One payment, two sign-ins, sharing one calendar of appointments, the notes on them, one spending list and one set of checklists.

What it does not do

• It does not diagnose, prescribe, or give doses.
• It does not replace a doctor, midwife or paediatrician.
• It does not currently cover the year after the birth. That is being written and it is not included in the S$29.
• It is not a period, cycle or fertility tracker. If that is what you want, a dedicated one will be better at it than we will ever be.
• It does not sell anything inside the app. No purchase links, no affiliate links, no ads.

What it costs

S$29, one payment, for the app. There is nothing recurring and nothing to cancel. The ebook, "You Are Not Alone", is a separate S$19 and is not bundled with the app. Payment is handled by Stripe, by card, and One Journey never sees or stores your card details. All purchases are final, and the Terms set out the situations we will always put right.

Questions people ask about this

Is there a pregnancy app with a one-time payment instead of a subscription?
One Journey is one payment of S$29 and there is nothing recurring and nothing to cancel. That covers the app from the day you know you are pregnant until your baby is born. The year after the birth is being written and is not included in that S$29.

Does it work for both parents?
One payment covers two sign-ins, one each. The two of you share one calendar of appointments, the notes written on them, one spending list and one set of checklists. Anything else either of you records, including anything you write about how you are feeling, stays readable only by the account that wrote it.

Do I have to download it from an app store?
No. It runs in your browser and you add it to your home screen, where it opens full screen with its own icon. There is no app store and no download.
